How To Make Deliciouse Iced Tea Using Gourmet Teas

According to the U.S. Tea Association, 85% of tea consumed in the US is iced. Unfortunately, the bulk of the iced tea consumed is made of low quality tea, such as the iced “tea” you find in fast food establishments. Their tea is often made of tea-flavored syrup. Many people also use low quality tea bags to make iced tea. However, you can make delicious, healthy, and original iced tea using whole leaf gourmet teas.

Iced tea is cold and refreshing on a hot summer day but it can also be a delicious, thirst-quenching way to enjoy your gourmet teas throughout the year. After all, it can get old drinking your gourmet teas hot all the time. Why not change it up on occasion by drinking your gourmet teas on ice? Not only is preparing iced gourmet tea fun, it is also a lot more flavorful and healthy for you.
The Benefits of Using Loose Gourmet Teas Instead of Tea Bags
Tea bags are full of tiny pieces of tea leaves known as tea dust. Tea dust goes stale a lot faster than the whole leaves found in loose gourmet teas. Furthermore, the flavor and health benefits can’t be compared to what whole leaf loose tea offers. To put it simply, tea bags create inferior tea. You’ll be able to enjoy a much tastier and healthier glass of ice tea by starting with loose, whole leaf tea.
Don’t be afraid to get creative! Blend gourmet teas of different flavors to your liking in order to create an original flavor of iced tea or simply pour your favorite ready-made tea blend over ice. There are several ways you can create delicious and unique iced tea using gourmet tea.. Here are some ideas you can use to make iced teas that would serve as the perfect beverage for a tea party, weekend get-together, or picnic.

The Basics
Making iced tea is very similar to making hot tea but there are a few differences. For one, you should double the amount of tea you use when you make hot tea. In order to create sweet iced tea, add sugar while the tea is steeping rather than at the end when the tea is consumed. The flavor turns out a lot better that way. After the tea is done brewing, pour it into a glass filled with ice. It is best to cool the tea immediately because the scent and flavor of the tea is preserved that way. Add some lemon or mint to the glass for tea that is refreshing and delicious.

If you need to prepare iced tea for a large group, you can also make refrigerator iced tea, which can be prepared far before the party. In fact, it takes twelve hours to brew refrigerator tea. To make it, use one heaping teaspoon of tea per cup of water. Place the water and tea in a glass pitcher and let it sit in the fridge overnight or for twelve hours. Before serving, sieve out the leaves, pour the tea into glasses, and serve.

Fresh tea tastes the best so only make as much as you are going to drink. Drink it immediately for the best flavor. Use ice cubes instead of chips or crushed ice to prevent the tea from getting too watered down.

Use six heaping tea spoons of loose tea for each quart of tea you would like to prepare. If you are using quality gourmet teas, you should be able to use it two more times to brew iced tea. The water you use should also be of high quality to make the best tasting iced tea. Don’t use tap water. You should also make sure to use good water to make ice cubes for your iced tea.

Ice Cube Tips
To prevent your iced tea from getting watered down, consider using juice or freshly brewed tea instead of water to make ice cubes. Orange juice, lemon juice, lime juice, or any other fruit juice you enjoy can add a fruity kick to your iced tea. You can also try adding mint leaves to the ice cube tray before you make ice cubes so when the ice cubes melt, there are mint leaves floating in your glass.

Sangria Iced Tea
To make a refreshing, fruity iced tea, pour chilled tea over chopped up fruits like strawberries, plums, mangoes, blueberries, and other fruits you enjoy. Let the tea sit for at least thirty minutes so the flavors of the tea and fruit blend. When serving the sangria iced tea, garnish each glass with sliced fruit.

Milky Iced Tea
To create a sweet and delicious milky ice tea, blend your favorite non-fruity black tea of choice with ice, milk, and chocolate or vanilla syrup. You can also create simple vanilla-flavored ice tea by just adding some vanilla syrup to your usual glass of iced tea.

Top 5 Reason To Drink Green Tea

Green tea has been hailed as a natural remedy for thousands of years, originating in China and widely used across Asia. A lot of scientific research has gone into green tea and its benefits are said to range from increasing metabolism to lowering weight loss and preventing cancer. So what reasons are out there for including green tea in your daily diet?

1) Prevent cancer
There is some evidence from early studies suggesting that green tea reduces the risk of some cancers. Whilst there is not yet enough evidence to conclusively say that green tea prevents cancers, many people believe that the low rates of cancer in Asia are due to the high intake of green tea.
Some studies have shown that a substance within green tea called polyphenols give the drink antioxidant properties. Antioxidants neutralise free radicals in the body, which damage cells and DNA causing diseases such as cancer.
2) Reduce bad breath
Polyphenols are not just antioxidants; they are also useful for relieving bad breath. A study from Israel’s Institute of Technology found that a particular polyphenol called epigallocatechin 3 gallate (EGCG) destroys a number of compounds in the mouth that lead to bad breath and tooth decay.

3) Increases metabolism
A study from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition recently found that green-tea extract increases your metabolism by 4% over a 24 hour period; and three to five cups a day can help you burn an extra 70 calories a day. A particular antioxidant found in green tea inhibits the breakdown of fats and the production of an inflammatory substance that triggers hunger, keeping you trim.

So rather than starting faddy diets, why not replace your cups of regular tea and coffee with green tea- it will help you lose weight in a healthy and sustainable way.

4) Prevent neurological disorders
Drinking tea is linked with a lower risk of Parkinson’s disease, even when other factors such as smoking, age and body mass index are taken into account. It is thought that polyphenols in green tea help maintain the parts of the brain that regulate learning and memory, so it may also be effective at preventing degenerative neurological diseases such as dementia.

5) Protect your heart
Green tea is thought to reduce your risk of coronary heart disease by lowering triglyceride and cholesterol levels. Studies suggest that green tea raises levels of good cholesterol and lowers levels of total cholesterol in both animals and people. Researchers estimate that the risk of heart attack decreases by 11% with 3 cups of green tea drunk a day.

So how much green tea do you need to drink to start reaping the benefits? No one seems able to say for sure, but it is thought that anything from two cups to ten cups a day will give your body a healthy boost. Remember most green tea contains caffeine so it will act as a stimulant, so make sure you don’t drink it before bed or you may find yourself being kept awake at night!

Go Three Days Without Food But Never A Day Without Tea

The news today is all about the rapid march of the Chinese economy which it seems likely will shortly overtake all but the very largest Western nations. But is there a danger that in importing Western affluence the Chinese may also import Western levels of the characteristic diseases of affluence – obesity, diabetes, heart attack, stroke, even cancer?

Perhaps, but probably not, so long as traditional Chinese medicine retains its focus on promoting the balance and harmony of the entire human organism; on unleashing and then harnessing the body’s own incredible healing powers.

In fact the ever increasing popularity of Chinese medicine in the West is evidence of the wisdom of this approach. And fortunately there's isn’t no need for you wait until you’re ill or consult a specialist practitioner to derive the benefits of the Chinese approach to health. As simple a change as incorporating a few cups of tea a day in your routine will over time deliver dramatic improvements in your well being.

Tea became widely known in China during the Tang dynasty (AD 618–907) and was quickly prized for its health promoting qualities, but there is evidence that its benefits have been known to the enlightened for at least four thousand years. In fact legend tells of a stray camellia blossom, drifting on the breeze one day in 2737 BC, which found its way into the Emperor Shen Nung’s steaming drinking water and quickly infused it with all the characteristic refreshment and invigoration we associate with tea.

So renowned did the properties of this simplest of beverages become that detailed rules of etiquette for its correct consumption emerged, culminating in the publication of Lu Yu's "The Classic Art of Tea". This famous poet and Buddhist priest laid down strict procedures for the preparation and serving of the perfect cup of tea. The water for the brew had to come from a gently flowing stream and be combined with leaves in a fine porcelain cup. The resulting brew was ideally to be drunk next to a lily pond in the company of a beautiful woman.

But despite Lu Yu’s best efforts, the Chinese never developed the kind of highly formal and complex tea ceremony characteristic of Japan. In the centuries following the publication of his work, however, tea's popularity spread rapidly throughout China. "Rather three days without food than a day without tea" became the saying, as news of its benefits reached the remotest corners of the vast empire. Books and poems were composed in its honour; Emperors gave particularly prized samples as gifts, and the teahouse became a familiar feature of countless cities, towns and villages.

So just what are the health benefits of drinking tea? The Chinese knew it from earliest times first as a stimulant to good digestion when consumed after a meal, stimulating the absorption of nutrients from food. Tea is also known as a powerful anti-oxidant and detoxifying agent helping to flush toxins from the body. These qualities alone, common to all teas, would be more than enough to make it a very valuable health supplement. But there’s more, much more, to green tea than this.

What makes green tea different from the black varieties with which we’re all so familiar, since all are derived from the camellia plant, is the method of production. Crucially, leaves for green tea are steamed rather than fermented, preventing the oxidation (ie destruction) of the vital EGCG compound which gives green tea its power. If you’ll forgive a little scientific jargon, EGCG is short for Epigallocatechin Gallate, one of a number of catachin polyphenols that occur naturally in tea. But what’s important to know is that EGCG is a very powerful anti-oxidant, the preservation of which has been indicated by research to make green tea anything up to ten times more potent than the more common fermented varieties.

This is not an academic difference. In fact today’s western science is increasingly confirming the health benefits long claimed for the consumption of green tea. And amazing as it may seem, EGCG and related compounds in green tea appear directly to target the most common killer diseases commonly attributed to western affluence and diet. A striking example is the case of the so-called “French paradox”. Medical science had long been puzzled by the relatively low incidence of heart disease in France, despite its traditionally high fat national diet. But then it was discovered that the red wine also widely enjoyed in France contains significant quantities of resveratrol, another ant-oxidant polyphenol credited with protective powers against the effects of a fatty diet.

The really good news is that a 1997 study at the University of Kansas demonstrated that EGCG is up to twice as powerful as resveratrol. Other research has credited EGCG with the ability to reduce total levels of cholesterol as well as improving the ratio of “good” (HDL) cholesterol to “bad” (LDL) cholesterol; and to protect against abnormal blood clotting.

This kind of thrombosis is a major risk factor for both heart attacks and strokes - still two of the biggest causes of premature death and disablement in the western world.

But there's more good news yet, because if there's one single disease that's most characteristic of Western society today it must sureluy be obesity; as alook around yourlocal gym or shopping mall will quickly confirm. And in truth, many ot hteother killer diseases of affluence, most notably diabetes and cardio-vascular problems, have chronic obesity at their root. So can green tea help with this all too common health problem? Well Swiss research published by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in November 1999 suggests that it can. The research concluded that green tea possessed thermogenic properties and promoted fat metabolism at a faster rate than could be explained by its caffeine content alone. Or in layman’s terms, green tea is a powerful fat burner which can be a very useful tool in any weight loss program.

But perhaps most excitingly of all, there’s increasing evidence that the anti-oxidant effects of green tea may even have positive effects in the fight against cancer. For example, in 1994 the Journal of the National Cancer Institute published the results of a study indicating that drinking green tea reduced the risk of oesophageal cancer in Chinese people by almost sixty percent. And University of Purdue researchers recently concluded that EGCG can directly inhibit the growth of cancer cells without apparently harming healthy tissue. This ground breaking study suggested that consumption of as few as four or five cups of green tea a day may have a significant inhibiting effect on tumour growth. Whilst earlier studies had also indicated the possible anti-cancer benefits of green tea, this was the first to isolate EGCG as the compound responsible – a major step forward.

If after reading all of the above you’re just raring to add green tea to your daily dietary regime I wouldn’t blame you at all. In fact I’d actively encourage you. But it’s only fair to give you the whole picture. And that means pointing out that the consumption of large amounts of green tea could risk adding a significant amount of caffeine to your normal intake.
Let me put this in perspective though. A standard six to eight ounce cup of green tea will contain between 30 and 60 milligrams of caffeine. A similar size cup of coffee will likely contain more than 100 milligrams. So just replace a couple of cups of your normal coffee intake with your recommended four to five cups of green tea and your caffeine intake’s going to stay level. But if you want to eliminate caffeine entirely then caffeine-free green teas are now becoming readily available.

So you can enjoy all the benefits cited above without any of the possible side-effects of caffeine and with ever increasing interest in the health promoting properties of green tea, new benefits are coming to light all the time. Already for example, the anti-oxidant (ie anti–ageing) qualities of the tea are being applied to the manufacture of skin care products.

Those may still seem a little far fetched to you right now, but in terms of your internal organism there’s no longer any doubt that green tea is truly one of nature’s great gifts - a very inexpensive but invaluable health booster.

Blooming Flowering Tea - A Joy To The Senses

Tea is the second most widely consumed beverage in the world, second only to water itself as a form of liquid refreshment and repose. Tea has become a cross cultural medium for invoking ceremony, ritual, and relaxation, and the process of preparing tea is often an exercise that is both calming and therapeutic in its own rite. Blooming tea, or flowering tea as it is also known, is a form of tea that is as pleasing to the eyes as it is to the other senses of taste, touch, and smell.

Blooming tea or flowering tea combines the beauty of flowers with various types of tea, and was first developed by artisans in China where it is still a significant export. By looking at the lump that comprises a tea bundle as it is before adding it to boiling hot water, it would seem that this liquid delicacy is anything but a work of art, but a great deal of skill and expertise goes into making a flowering tea bundle. A majority of the tea leaves and flowers used for making the delicacy come from high in the mountains of the southern Chinese province of Yunnan. While they are still fresh from being picked, beautiful flowers and tea leaves are sewn together with cotton thread into bundles roughly the size and shape of a golf ball. Artisans complete the delicate labor-intensive process entirely by hand, and a single bundle may take up to ten minutes to complete. Once a bundle is sewn, it is heated in a kiln for drying and packaged for export.

The types of tea used in creating a flowering tea bundle are generally of the white, green, or black variety, but the flowers involved in the process are what give blooming tea its true appeal. Flowers known for their aromatic properties like jasmine, chrysanthemum, lilies, hibiscus, peony, rose, and osmanthus among others are combined into intricate bundles along with loose leaf green, white, and black teas. Most flowering tea bundles take anywhere from the 3 to 5 minutes to completely unfurl after being infused with boiling hot water. The process itself is very therapeutic, both visually stimulating and aromatically tantalizing. Unlike typical tea bags, the bundles can be refreshed as needed by re-infusing the unfurled flower bundle with fresh boiling water, so you and your guests can certainly have your fill of this flavorful liquid pleasure.

Flowering or blooming teas are best prepared in a transparent glass tea pot, or they can be served with individual blooms placed in wide transparent tea cups. After all, what would be the purpose of an unfurling tea bundle that could not be visually enjoyed? In a transparent tea pot, you and your guests can watch as the tea bundle unfurls, and with individual tea cups each guest can have their own separate bloom. In either situation, the unfurled blooms can all be re-infused with hot water to experience the flavor and aroma once more. Tea sets are available for purchase and are specifically designed for enjoying flowering blooming tea. Most come packaged with 6 to 10 bundles, so you can get a taste right away for this liquid feast for the senses. Once you try flowering blooming tea, drinking other more common forms of tea will never seem the same again.

If, however, you are one of the thousands of people that want and need to lose facial fat, then the following tips are helpful and do not require a lot of money, just patience and perseverance.

1. Good posture is important too, especially if you want to get rid of a double chin. Nowadays more and more people spend long periods of time working at a desk and it can be hard to maintain good posture. It is a good idea to consider investing in an ergonomic work chair as these make it easier to maintain proper posture as you work long hours at your computer.

2. Firm your face up via facial routines. Many people find this weird and in some ways, even a bit silly. However, there is no question regarding the effectiveness of these routines. Many people have already reaped optimum results from such exercises. You too can get the same benefits, if you only try them. You can consider doing some facial exercises. It is very true that there are people who maintain that you cannot lose face fat with facial exercises. However, doing some exercises will not harm you. As a result, you should also try to use this method to help you to get rid of the fats on your face. The same muscles that you use to talk, make faces and eat are the ones that need exercise to get rid of accumulated face fat. Chewing gum helps to exercise these muscles and will help to reduce the fat on your face and even better, prevent more from building up.

3. In fact, it will be a lot better for you to consider losing fats for your whole body. You should take a healthy diet in this case. Fruits and vegetables are fat free and good for you, while junk foods, fast foods and foods with a high sugar content should be cut back on and avoided as much as possible. Beer is also known to put fat on the face and you should try to avoid it if you are serious about losing the facial fat. Eating too many simple carbohydrates like sugar and white flour can make your hold weight in your face. These foods tend to make you retain water, and one of our body’s favorite water storage facilities along with the hands and ankles is the face. Watching your carbohydrates for this reason has the added side effect of spurring weight loss over your whole body, too. This is one of the best natural weight loss.

4. Make it a point that you drink lots of water every single day. Drinking plenty of water regularly can provide you with loads of benefits and one of them is weight loss. Another thing is that, drinking plenty of water (at least eight to nine glasses) will help keep your hunger pangs at bay. There are also a few teas, such as Chinese Oolong Tea, that are known to help the body lose weight and you could consider trying one or more.

Diabetes Causes And Tips To Control On Diabetes And Maintain Blood Sugar Level

Diabetes has become an epidemic worldwide. There are many products and medications available on the current market, however most of them will cost you a huge amount of money, with no guaranteed results. However, there are thousands of people who can manage this disease with natural diabetes treatment that will not cost them too much money.

Now let’s fast forward to the good news. By exercising, losing the extra weight and eating the following foods you can actually help prevent, control or even beat diabetes the natural way:
Pumpkin
Research conducted on pumpkin shows that it contains compounds that help to prevent the destruction of and regeneration of damaged pancreatic cells. As a result, pumpkin also helps to increase insulin levels in the blood. The protective effect of pumpkin is thought to be due to both antioxidants and molecules that mediate insulin activity. So keep on eating your pumpkin and drinking your pumpkins soup.

Ital Stew
An ital stew made with peas, okra, pumpkin, carrots, cho cho and stewed down with coconut milk and served with brown rice provides fiber, mucilage and a wide variety of nutrients that will slow sugar absorption into the blood stream and regulate insulin response.

Cherries, Cinnamon and Buckwheat
Researches have identified antioxidants, beneficial compounds and fiber cherries, cinnamon and buckwheat respectively that can help to lower blood sugar levels. Cherries contain a group of antioxidants that help increase insulin production, and up to half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder on food for forty day show blood sugar lowering capabilities.

Tea
Five cups of black or green tea per day research says could significantly reduce cataract formation. Black, green and oolong teas could also increase insulin activity. Add lemon and please, no sugar!

Coconut oil
It is believed that coconut oil puts less of a demand on the enzyme production of the pancreas. This lessens the stress on the pancreas during mealtime when insulin is produced most heavily, thus allowing the organ to function more efficiently. According to the Journal of the Indian Medical Association, coconut oil in the diet enhances insulin action and improves binding affinity compared to other oils.

American Ginseng
Researchers at St. Michael’s Hospital and the University of Toronto have found that taking American ginseng before a meal reduces blood sugar in people both with and without diabetes

Logwood Bark
This is a long time tradition remedy for diabetes. Boil 1 ounce logwood chips in a pint of distilled water for 10 minutes. Add 2 teaspoon near end. Drink 1-2 ounces daily.

Herbal Tea Tisanes Growing In Popularity

As opposed to green, black, white and oolong teas, herbal teas, or tisane teas, as they are also known, are not produced from the leaves of tea plant. Instead, herbal teas are in fact infusions of dried flowers, fruits, seeds, roots and herbs. All these could come from a single plant, but combinations of flowers and fruits from multiple plants are also popular.

Herbal teas are made from plants that have other potential health benefits than the tea plant. The preparation techniques may also differ. Tisane tea could be prepared as actual tea, by pouring water on the plant parts, or in a different manner. If seeds and roots of a plant are used, then these can be placed in water that boils. After a few minutes the brew is strained. Adding sugar is optional and depends on the bitterness or sweetness of the plants from which the herbal tea is made. As well as actual tea, herbal tea is also available in tea bags which prove to be very convenient. In this particular situation, the crushing grade of the ingredients found in tea bags does not affect very much the quality of the brew.

The color, flavor and aroma of the brew depend very much on the plants that are used in the herbal tea, as well as on the steeping time and temperature of the water. Preparation instructions are much more liberal in this case than when using actual tea leaves, as the temperature does not have to be in a certain range. Instead, herbal tea is almost brewed with freshly boiled water.

Herbal tea represents a great alternative to actual tea that should not be neglected!

Complete Guild On How To Lower Blood Sugar Levels Naturally

Yes, you can lower your blood sugar levels naturally and we'll show you how in this comprehensive guide to lowering glucose levels.

I'm sure you are fully aware that newly diagnosed type II diabetics is on the rise in America. Considering our western lifestyle this shouldn't be to much of a surprise. We've listed 11 cheap steps that you can take right now to help you stay away from this disease or control the amount of insulin you take. By watching our diet, reading labels, taking good notes, finding good supplements and starting a easy exercise routine we can normalize our blood sugar levels.
Type I diabetics should also adopt these steps to help them possibly trim the amount of insulin they need to take. Apply these strategies and more than your diabetes will be happy.

Measuring your blood sugar levels will help the doctors determine if you are pre-diabetic or if you are diabetic. They do this by giving you the glucose tolerance test.

The numbers that determine if you are a pre-diabetic will range from 100-125 mg/dL. This test will be given to you during a fasting period and it measures your fasting glucose range. If your fasting glucose levels are above 125 you are considered diabetic. The glucose tolerance test is measuring the rise in your blood glucose levels after you take glucose. During this test if your blood sugar levels rise into the 140-199 range you are considered a pre-diabetic and as you guess it anything above 199 is diabetes.

How to Lower Blood Sugar Levels Naturally

The following are simple steps to take if you are inclined to change your daily habits. I trust your doctor has discussed these natural steps with you.

1. Your diet is the most important ingredient to lowering your blood sugars levels naturally. Foods that pass through your system quickly should be avoided and foods that take longer to digest are most beneficial to keeping your blood sugars in check. This all relates to the low-glycemic food group like: granola, oatmeal, beans, peas, and peanuts to name just a few. White bread and white rice should be limited but there is an option you will read about below.

As you should already know, each case is individual and specific to YOU. Some diabetics have to watch the fruits they eat because it will increase their blood glucose levels and others can get away with it. Some other options that should be considered are banana's (potassium) and high plant fibrous foods. And all of know that carbohydrates can adversely effect blood sugar levels, correct?

2. I bet this will come as a big shock to you: EXERCISE What you might not realize is the fact that our bodies work extremely well when you have a good oxygen exchange going on in your lungs. This happens when you are using your muscles a little more than normal.

Think about walking behind a lawn mower instead of sitting on one. If you have a large yard, divide it up into manageable sections like I do. The only problem is that I'd like to mow 4 days a week instead of 1 or 2. In the fall raking leaves or shoveling snow is a lot of fun, but be very careful not to overdue it. You don't want to shock the system. Vacuuming the house is beneficial and whenever you feel light headed sit down right away.

Walking, daily gardening and anything that is automated now can be switched to manual labor. Another fun thing that is going on is WII machines. Many different adult living centers now begun to use WII machines to help the elderly exercise in the comforts of the home or living center. Isn't that cool?

Did you know: pre-diabetics (risk group) if you do moderate daily exercises of 30 minutes and a weight reduction of 5 to 10 percent you can reduce your chances of getting diabetes by 58 percent?

3. If you really want to stay on top of this disease consider keeping good records and it will help you narrow down your daily activities and what foods helped you stabilize your blood sugar levels. Type I diabetics should also include the amount of insulin they take because you will find patterns that might help you lower your insulin intake.

Record keeping will help you calm down when you see a high blood sugar reading, Most diabetics from time to time will see a high reading and this is not a cause for alarm, with experience you will learn how to quickly change that reading, so please takes notes until

you have your blood glucose levels in check.

4. Drinking water and all I need to say is this: it will help flush out toxins quickly and it's vital to all living cells of your body.

5. eliminate western habits of eating out at fast food joints unless you'll be eating off their small "healthy menu". It's hard for me to say it but you must eliminate soft drinks and process sugars like candy bars.

6. become a label reader. You'll be shocked at what you find when you start reading labels. Take chocolate for instance, do you know how much caffeine is in chocolate?

7. learn how to say: "decaf please". Tea's and coffee's are staples of many societies and

8. nutritional supplements have shown they can help you lower your blood sugar levels. A lot of people have reduced their insulin levels and others have been able to take themselves off the "endangered list" or pre-diabetic list by using supplements.

9. herbs are another great resource for helping you lowering your glucose levels. Some of the more popular ones are: cinnamon, coffee berry, garlic and ginko biloba to name just a few.

10. make sure and add a column on your record keeping sheets to chart your sleep times, resting times and stress times. Blood glucose levels can be greatly influenced by stress and to combat stress, quality rest should be made available.

11. Yippee for vinegar. We all know that white rice and bread can really jump up our blood sugar levels but did you know vinegar will help you keep that in check? Arizona researchers found that two tablespoons of vinegar before a starchy meal can reduce the blood glucose levels in your blood. There is even more proof out of Sweden and Japan concerning vinegar that is a very positive finding for diabetics around the world.

Now that you are equipped with these specific and cheap steps, that will help you keep your blood sugar levels in check, now it's time to take action. Now you are equipped with 11 wonderful strategies to help you fight diabetes and lower your blood sugar levels naturally.

The Best Resveratrol Source And How To Take It

So I guess you’ve heard about this wonder nutrient and what it can do. But do you know how to find the best resveratrol source to get the maximum benefits?

We should all be thinking about how to include this in our health regime as the list is growing all the time about what it can do, including preventing heart disease, lowering cholesterol and even increasing our lifespan. So what makes the best resveratrol source?
I'm sure you have heard that it can be had from red wine, which is true, but you would need to drink heavily every day to get the real benefits! Other sources include blueberries, peanuts and the most potent from the Japanese Knotweed plant.

The Japanese have long used this as a healing tool, and it is only relatively recently here in the West we are discovering more about it.

To be effective, resveratrol needs to reach the bloodstream, and even after drinking a lot of red wine, only a small percentage gets through.
Experts now agree that the best method is via a health supplement,
preferably combined with other synergistic nutrients.

When these ingredients are put together they create synergy, which means you get the direct benefits of each nutrient and the benefits from their interaction with each other. A single resveratrol pill will only have limited health benefits.

For the best resveratrol effects, it should be combined with green tea extract and ginkgo biloba, among others, to enhance its antioxidant powers significantly.

You should also check that it is the 50% trans-type as this is the active form.

Perhaps the most important element is that of delivery. The supplement needs to have an enteric coating to be effective, and to make sure the nutrients aren't lost because of the stomach acid, but reaches the upper intestine where it will have the greatest benefit.

This is not the cheapest option, which is why the majority of supplements out there are without it, so check the label carefully.

If you follow this advice you will be helping to safeguard you future health, receiving a boost from the multitude of natural nutrients, and this is the best resveratrol source and combination possible.

If you would like to learn more about the synergistic supplements which I personally take, including resveratrol, why not visit my website.

Fight Breast Cancer With Calcium D-glucarate And Other Nutritional Supplements

Most likely, there is nothing more frightening for a woman than the discovery of a lump in her breast. Her mind is quickly flooded with cancer and all of its consequences. Most women have a friend, a sister, or a coworker who has been diagnosed with the disease and know how difficult dealing with it can be. Fortunately, 80% of all breast lumps are not cancer, as most are cysts or a benign clump of tissue. From puberty on, a woman’s breasts undergo many changes. Because of these continual changes, breast tissue requires adequate nutrition. Although everyone benefits from a healthy diet, there are additional nutrients which can specifically benefit women including B vitamins, calcium D-glucarate, broccoli extract, green tea, maitake mushrooms, and iodine.

Because scientists can learn a lot about diseases from simply observing it, they have learned that certain cultures have a very low incidence of breast cancer, among these being China and Japan. As compared to women in America, Canada, and parts of Europe, the Asian cultures have a much lower breast cancer rate and it seems likely that something in their diet could be protecting these women from the disease. As Asian women adopt a western diet their breast cancer rates climb. It has also been recognized that certain types of vegetables play a large role in the prevention of all types of disease, including cancer. Based on this, scientists have carried out many studies to determine what it is about these nutrients that can prevent breast cancer.

Deficiencies in vitamin B12 can result in a serious type of anemia, as well as nerve damage, and is now being researched to see if these deficiencies can also, in part, cause breast cancer. A scientific study proved that women who had the lowest levels of B12 in their blood had the highest rates of breast cancer. Another study discovered that when B12 was applied directly to cancer cells, it actually stopped cancer cells from growing. The researchers conducting this experiment believe that giving B12 to women with breast cancer as a part of a chemotherapy regime might help to keep cancer in check.

Similarly, low folic acid intake is linked to the development of all cancers because folic acid is crucial to the making and continual repair of DNA. A recent study discovered that high intakes of folic cancer may actually reduce the risk of breast cancer, as women who eat lots of foods that contain folic acid have much lower rates of breast cancer. Although there is no clear-cut, single cause of breast cancer, many factors are required for the disease to appear, including estrogen. Studies have shown that women who have higher levels of estrogen tend to develop breast cancer more often. This means that women who got the periods before age eleven or entered menopause after the age of fifty-five have a higher risk of breast cancer. Another factor affecting breast cancer is the consumption of alcohol. Since alcohol raises estrogen levels, a woman who consumes even moderate amounts of alcohol increases her risk of breast cancer. However a recent study has shown that folic acid can overtake this link between alcohol consumption and breast cancer as those women who drink one alcoholic drink a day and have high levels of folic acid have the same rate of breast cancer as those women with high folic acid intakes who did not drink.

While women need estrogen to soften skin, thicken hair, and fill out hips and breasts, estrogen can also nourish breast tumors and help them to grow bigger, stronger, and more deadly. Thanks to good nutrition, American women get their periods early and go through menopause later in life. Today, women also have fewer pregnancies, with the average number of children being one or two. Each of these factors increases the time in which women’s bodies are exposed to estrogen, meaning increased opportunities for estrogen to cause trouble. We are also continuously exposed to cancer-causing chemicals and toxins, coming from contaminants in the food we eat and pollutants in the air we breathe. Although the body does have a system that eliminates some of the excess estrogen and toxic chemicals before they cause harm, an enzyme called beta-glucuronidase can interrupt the excretion process, allowing the hormone or toxin to continue to cause harm. Fortunately, scientists have discovered a natural substance found in foods, calcium d-glucarate (CDG), which can stop the activity of beta-glucuronidase. CDG, which is found in fruits and vegetables, has been shown in experimental studies to significantly slow breast cancer growth. There are also many other trials currently underway studying its ability to decrease the breast cancer risk in women at high risk for the disease.

Iodine, which is the trace element in a hormone found in the thyroid gland and is involved in several metabolic functions, functions as a protection of breast tissue from cancerous cells. A study exposing breast cancer cells and breast tissue without any cancer to a type of seaweed containing high amounts of iodine concluded that the seaweed killed all of the cancerous cells and did not harm the normal breast cells. Researchers believe that it is because many Japanese women eat this kind of seaweed, containing great amounts of iodine, that they have very low rates of breast cancer.

For a great deal of time, cruciferous vegetables including broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower, have been observed by scientists for their ability to reduce the risk of diseases including cancer. It appears that the phytochemical sulforaphane, found in broccoli, is one of the chemicals responsible for this beneficial ability. Sulforaphane increases certain enzymes in the body called phase 2 enzymes, which deactivate cancer-causing chemicals. When breast cancer cells were exposed to sulforaphane in a lab experiment, the compound inhibited the growth of the cancer cells up to eighty percent.

There is a good amount of research that has concluded that green tea beverage consumption is associated with a lower incidence of breast cancer. Researchers have long noted the low rates of breast cancer in Japan, where green tea is consumed at great amounts. The active compound found in green tea that is responsible for breast cancer inhibition is EGCG, which stops the cells from growing, causes them to lose their ability to replicate, and die.

For many years, maitake mushrooms have been linked to good health in all that eat them, partly because they contain an important compound called D-fraction. D-fraction not only stops the growth of cancerous tumors, but it also alerts and stimulates immune cells to fight the disease. Due to its success, maitake is now being used in clinical trials of women with breast cancer, improving many symptoms including reduction of the tumor.

These nutrients should not be used in place of traditional treatment for breast cancer, as none of these nutrients can cure breast cancer. However, they can be a part of plan of treatment. If you have breast cancer, talk to your healthcare practitioner about these nutrients and remember that nutritional supplements are supplements to your food, medication, and treatment, to enhance and prevent, not a replacement. Supplements like B vitamins, calcium D-glucarate, broccoli extract, green tea, maitake mushrooms, and iodine can be found at your local or internet health food store.

Is Green Tea Good For Diabetes?

Green tea assists to prevent type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes splits blood glucose, and does not produce the insulin. Green tea in the diabetic diet perhaps is a good option. Research with animal explains it really prevents the type 1 diabetes. The result of a study appeared in Biomed Central website; it is not only helpful for prevention of type 1 diabetes, helping prevent the development of type 2 diabetes.

It helps in increasing the metabolic rate of the human beings and this is turn leads to an increased rate of calorie burn. The thermogenic properties of the tea help in the promotion of oxidation of fat. This tea is especially beneficial in burning a particular type of fat that is called as visceral fat. This type of fat is related with diabetes.

The well known weight loss capabilities of green tea, which are the product of metabolic acceleration, improve health conditions by themselves, but a direct control of diabetes or at least the prevention of this dangerous disease, should give green tea a prominent place in our diet.

The pathetic condition of type 1 diabetics is the inability of the pancreas to produce insulin secretion to break down glucose in the blood and promote bodily energy. The essence of this tea burns the food intake and the muscular energy is generated to keep the body active and vibrant. That way, there is high chance to maintain normal blood sugar levels without allowing elevated sugar levels.

The benefits attributed to them are nothing short of amazing. Now before listing and discussing them, it has to be said that even though they have been consumed in tea form by the Chinese for over 4000 years, and a little later by the Japanese, and they attribute their longevity to this tea which they drink approximately 6-7 times per day.

The extract from camellia sinensis in dry form has 25% of catechin. While catechin is available in almost all the plants including many of the foods we take, the catechin from this tea is very special. Do you know the reason? Not because it is potent than any other catechin but because of its abundance in green tea. But one can also spoil while making a drink. Because, its preparation is a bit tricky to ensure its full benefits can be derived.

Green tea diet pills are a good way in which you can educe your weight. It is also widely recognized as a substance that can protect against many different cancers such as stomach cancer, ovarian cancer, cancer of the colon, oral cancer, prostate cancer, and breast and cervical cancers.

Not only is green tea good for your overall health but it is also good for the mind. It provides stimulation to your brain. But, don't even look at it that closely. Green tea helps with weight loss which can also help you to improve your self esteem and your outlook on life. It can help to jumpstart your life and give you the energy to get through the bumps in the road.

The good news is that this natural beverage has a variety of other health promoting properties as well. Replacing daily sodas with unsweetened tea can help you lose weight. Not only will your replace empty calories with something healthier but this tasty beverage can also help increase your metabolism a bit.

Power Teas

Power Teas In eighth-century China, people began making healing drinks of “Leaves of a bush” as described much later by visiting Hollanders. Tea began as medicine, and we can enjoy using it that way today, as both a soothing beverage and a healing medicine.

Teas contain active, nourishing agents that can help heal and may actually help to prevent disease. Disease-fighting catechins are found in ordinary green, oolong or black teas. Even mild herbal teas like lemon balm or nettles are rich in nutrients such as bioflavonoids, carotenes, minerals, and vitamins. Mild, herbal teas are the safest form of enjoying herbs and can provide many benefits with no side effects. Herbalist and author Susan Weed describes nourishing herbal teas such as red clover, lemon balm, nettles, alfalfa, and chamomile as “nourishing foods, just as leafy greens, garlic, and carrots are.”

The quality of the teas you brew will only be as good as the raw materials or packaged product you select. Christopher Hobbs, author and herbalist, reminds us to “choose products that contain organically grown herbs.” I usually recommend that people begin exploring herbal teas by purchasing organic packaged teas and following the brewing instruction with care. The teas I have recommended as Power Teas are gently nourishing. Herbs can be potent, and using some of them requires the help of an herbalist or other professional. None of those types of herbs is recommended here. Teas can be wonderful tools in improving our health. They can calm, soothe, revitalize, cleanse, and in some cases, even offer potent protection against breast and other cancers. This chapter includes my favorite teas that I rely on – my “power teas.”

Herbal Teas: Rich Sources of Vitamins and Minerals
Phytosterols in herbs balance hormones and are a rich source of vitamins and minerals. In fact, the vitamins and minerals in herbs are assimilated more efficiently than those from supplements.

Phytosterols are plant hormones that provide hormonal building blocks, allowing the body to produce both the amount and combination of hormones needed. It is nor necessary to know the exact amount to consume. Phytosterols also support the liver. Some of my favorite phytosterol rich herbs are red clover, dandelion, nettle, and sage.

Nettles. I am drinking a fortifying cup of nettles tea as I write this. It is pleasantly bitter, and very satisfying. Nettles is one of the most potent sources of calcium and other minerals, and is nourishing and cleansing. It contains silicon, boron, magnesium , and potassium, as well as chlorophyll, carotenes, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin B comples, and flavonoids. Nettles is excellent for the adrenal and endocrine glands, and for relieving allergies.

Dandelion. This powerful tea is useful in protecting, cleansing, and regenerating the liver. I love dandelion root tea in the winter, and the lighter, leaf tea during the spring and summer. Modern research has confirmed that traditional use of dandelion is especially effective for preventing and treating breast and other cancers. Dandelion’s roots and leaves are rich in minerals for a liver cleanse, combine 1 part dandelion roots and leaves with 10 parts water. Simmer for 20 minutes, steep for 10, and drink 1 cup two to five times a day. Dandelion root concentrate can be added to a cup of hot water or tea to promote liver health.

Red clover. This tea is rich in anticancer genistein, especially protective for breast and other cancers. It also helps the lymphatic system cleanse the body and bloodstream of toxins.

Flor-essence. Available in health food stores, this tea contains re clover, burdock root, and other cleansing herbs.

Lemon balm. A relaxing, nighttime tea, lemon balm strengthens the liver, is a source of abundant antioxidants, and helps relives headaches.

Sage. Great for alleviating hot flashes, sage also helps depression, nervousness, mood swings, and headaches. It is excellent for women going through menopause. Women report that sage tea at night is effective at relieving night sweats. Make sage tea and drink throughout the day. Also helpful in strengthening the liver, sage is rich in minerals and antioxidants.

Chamomile. Known as a wonderfully relaxing herb, chamomile is also antibacterial, antiseptic, and has antinausea properties. It also has antinflammatory properties, so it may be beneficial for people suffering from arthritis or rheumatism. What I like best about chamomile is that it provides a calming energy in the day, so if I’am under stress, I can drink chamomile tea without becoming sleepy. At night, however, chamomile tea imparts that “ready for a good night’s sleep” feeling, especially when you drink a cup while in a lavender bath.

Peppermint. This tea has been used since Ancient Egyptian times as a digestive, and for good reason. It is extremely effective at relieving digestive problems ranging from indigestion to stomach cramps from mild food poisoning. Always have peppermint tea on hand in your own kitchen.

TIP: investigate Flora’s line of herbal teas for the highest quality herbs.

Green. When discussing breast health, green tea belongs in special category all by itself. I try to drink one cup of green tea each day because of the extensive research showing how this potent beverage stops the initiation and growth of breast cance. Green tea has been found to be the most protective against breast (and other) cancers, followed by oolong and then black tea. Green tea protects DNA from cell damage and helps to rebuild already damaged DNA. Having powerful anticancer properties, it inhibits tumor promotion and proliferation by reducing the adhesion ability of the tumor cell surface. Green tea is especially effective in preventing and treating esophageal, lung, stomach and skin cancers. It is rich in polyphenols and epigallorachin gallate (EGCG), chemical that can neutralize the free radical associated with cancer. Green tea is also a rich source of antioxidants, and can be measured in the blood us to eight hours after it is comsumed. The Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy reported in August 1998 that researchers in London found green tea extracts may boost the activity of antibiotics against bacteria.

TIP:Green tea contains caffeine, so be carful not to drink to much of it during the day, or at all in the evening

Kukicha. This calcium-rich Japanese tea, which is very popular in macrobiotics, contains more calcium per cup than milk. Kukicha tea is made from the twigs of the plant, as opposed to the leaves. Because most of the caffeine in tea is found in the leaves. Kukicha (“twig tea”) is relatively low in caffeine. Be sure to purchase only organic Kukicha tea, because many pesticides are used in the farming of teas in Japan. And throughout the world.

Lotus root. Valued in Asian folk medicine as a tonic for the lungs, it can be helpful in cleansing the lungs when there are respiratory problems of any kind.

Ume extract. Unripe Japanese ume plums are pressed carefully to extract the juice, which is then cooked for about a day to concentrate it. Ume concentrate is salt-free and can absorb and neutralize several hundred times its weight in acid. It also possesses antioxidant properties. Ume extract is wonderful to have on hand for headaches, nausea, or constipation.

Ume was first produced on a commercial basis in Japan in the mid-1920s. At that time, the Japanese Army and Navy officially used it as in antiseptic to guard against food poisoning, dysentery, and other illnesses. Ume extract is effective for both constipation and diarrhea. It increases. Ume extract is effective for both constipation and diarrhea. It increases or decreases bacterial action when necessary to reestablish the proper balance and restore normal bowel movement. It has both the capacity to suppress breeding of bacteria in the small intestine that leads to diarrhea and to promore bacterial growh to aid bowel movements. Simply add ¼ teaspoon of ume plum extract to 1 full cap of tea (I recommend Kukicha tea.) Stir and drink. If you like sweet teas and are used to artificial sweeteners. Stevia contains no calories and is a much healthier choice. Be careful, because this dark green leaf from Paraguay is twenty-five times sweeter than sugar. Use only 1/8 teaspoon of stevia per cup or glass of tea. Amazingly, stevia can be used by people with hypoglycemia. If you use a chemical, calorie-free sweetener, make the switch to natural stevia. The Japanese have researched stevia’s safety and effectiveness, and have been using it since the 1970s

Organic Black Tea- A More And More Preferred Choice For The Health-conscious Generation Today

Many health-conscious people from the present generation are showing an inclination for drinking organic black tea. A higher quality is maintained in organic products as compared to the standard varieties. People want to drink a healthy beverage that is free from any type of toxic chemicals. There are lots of sources present from where organically grown black tea is procured. In China, it is an age-old tradition to drink tea daily. Hence China is a big source for this kind of tea. Many Chinese localities within the U.S. offer different kinds of tea. Tea of excellent quality also originates from Assam, which is a state in India.

Other countries like Sri Lanka, Greece and Turkey also export lot of tea, along with a special number of tea named 'chamomile' is well-known in Greece. Whatever may be the origin from the place where a person gets his preferred tea, he or she must make sure that the tea procured is organic. In order to verify how the tea is organic, a person should look out for the authentic organic seal about the label. The seal assures how the tea is of best quality and certifies it had been grown by following the best standards. Also, throughout the entire stage of tea cultivation there's not been any utilization of chemical pesticides or fertilizers.
Black tea has several many benefits for individuals who drink such tea regularly. Lots of people have got this notion that black tea isn't as good using the green or white varieties. A few of the notable black tea benefits are - weight loss, increase of blood circulation, lowering of blood pressure, prevention of cavities, etc. As calories are totally absent in black tea, it is a far better alternative than any other beverage containing sugar. Black tea also serves the objective of a heath tonic for people struggling with hypertension. It's also an all natural source of fluoride, which prevents cavities.

Not all types of black tea give the same level of benefit. Tea Bags provide the minimum benefit, while loose black tea is better than the commercially sold tea bags. Much better than either of these two previously mentioned varieties is the 'organic' loose tea, as no artificial additives or chemicals are present inside it.
